Amazing Use of Google Earth - Crisis in Darfur

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has released an amazing KML layer for Google Earth which allows you to see a massive amount of information on the crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan. It's an amazing use of Google Earth and really shows the untapped power of Google Earth as a new way of "browsing". As I have posted previously, the whole method of going to a web site and getting information in "web pages" is outdated. In the next few years, the power of applications such as Google Earth, Microsoft Vista, Google software, AJAX and Flash based applications, etc. will change the whole view of a web site from being a set of web pages to a complete and three dimensional application.

Instead of doing the typical site seeing tour in Google Earth by looking at Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, etc. you should spend some time with this layer and see in highly visible detail the destruction in this region of the world. In addition, each village is marked with additional information and links to how you can help out.
